In Memory of Professor Charles M. Jones
An exceptional scholar and beloved teacher, leader, colleague, husband, and father, Professor Charles M. Jones joined the faculty of Columbia Business School in 1997. He earned tenure in 2003, and was named the Robert W. Lear Professor of Finance and Economics in 2008. Professor Jones leaves behind an outstanding legacy through his work on short sales, algorithmic and high-frequency trading, market liquidity, and individual investor trading, as well as through his dedicated service to the School for over 25 years, including as Chair of the Finance and Economics Division from 2008 to 2011 and as Senior Vice Dean from 2017 to 2019.
To honor Professor Jones’s legacy of distinguished scholarship and leadership, his colleagues, former students, and friends seek to establish a fund to support PhD students in his name. The fund will be used each year to honor and support the work of exceptionally performing third year doctoral students at our School.
