Glamis Haro
Glamis has extensive experience with microenterprises and business lending, global trade consulting, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), and Community Development Credit Unions (CDCUs). Before joining the Columbia-Harlem SBDC, she worked as the Lending and Business Development Manager at Union Settlement Federal Credit Union. In this position, she coordinated the activities of service organizations, financial institutions, federal, and state programs related to small business lending supported by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and CDIFs. Later, she extended her work to include veteran outreach programs, projects focusing on economic security for the aging, and anti-predatory lending initiatives.
Glamis' international work experience includes partnering with cooperatives in Guatemala, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, and Colombia. Notably, she worked at Accion USA as a financial analyst, providing access to capital to small businesses and coordinated the Green Cart Program which provided fresh fruits and vegetables to neighborhoods with limited access to healthy produce. She is an expert at providing technical assistance to businesses and teaches many courses in Lean Business Plan Development, business and personal credit management, and financial fitness assessment for business growth. Glamis also developed the Financial Management Made Simple curriculum for the Columbia Harlem SBDC. Glamis graduated with an MPA in oversight and management at John Jay. She is Global Trade Consulting certified, Strategyzer to build better Business Models certified, School of Professional Studies (SPS) Advance Business, and Digital Strategies Business certification from Columbia University.
Whenever she has some time left, Glamis likes to play tennis and cook shrimp ceviche, Ecuadorian-style!
