DRO PhD student Mehmet Saglam won first place in the Student Paper Competition organized by the 2011 INFORMS Financial Services Section for his paper, "The Cost of Latency," co-authored with Professor Ciamac C. Moallemi. The award is given annually for papers deemed to display academic significance (originality of the work, depth of the presented results and their potential impact on future research, and identified new areas of research) and business relevance (importance of the addressed problem and its impact on practice).
