Lulu Bird

Lulu Bird is a communications leader, creative strategist, and digital marketing expert. They joined the Lang Center in 2023, bringing years of experience in analytical marketing, public relations strategy, operations management, and community engagement. Lulu began their career performing market research on venture capital funding strategies and helped transform SelfDecode, a DNA based health-tech wellness app, from a tiny startup to a 100+ employee venture. Following their exit, Lulu moved to the biggest digital marketing agency in the music world, Wavo, working to grow artist projects with Atlantic Records and Elektra Music Group. They currently freelance as a digital and creative strategy consultant, primarily serving Columbia Alumni founded ventures.
Lulu is a graduate of Columbia's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, having completed a Master of Arts and Thesis on Digital Media and Multimedia Communications. They were a 2024 finalist in the Columbia GSAS Masters SynThesis Competition. They received their BA from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Since coming to New York they've completed several independent projects, including Art Endures Community, Community Endures Art, An Oral History of Brooklyn Gentrification and We Should Kiss Our Friends More, an interview based project studying relationship psychology in the Lower East Side. Their community based projects have helped them effectively assess needs, strategies, and consumer behaviors in the venture capital and marketing world.
