Curriculum Vitae

Lisa Yao Liu joined Columbia Business School in 2020. Her research examines whether auditing, disclosure regulation, and information technology create real accountability (e.g., workplace safety, cybersecurity, and environmental performance). She combines archival methods, structural estimation, theoretical modeling, and field research to study these questions.

Her work has been published in the Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Management Science, and other leading journals, and has received several awards including the Distinguished Contribution to Accounting Literature Award from the American Accounting Association. She serves on the editorial boards of The Accounting Review and Contemporary Accounting Research, and is an Affiliate Fellow of the Stigler Center for the Study of the Economy and the State at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Professor Liu received her PhD and MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a master's degree in Economics from Duke University, and a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Renmin University of China.
