Maria L. Chrin ’89
Maria L. Chrin is the founder and managing partner of Circle Wealth Management (CWM), a women-owned independent wealth advisory firm and multi-family office based in New York City and Summit, New Jersey. CWM manages over $11 billion in assets for a select group of ultra-high-net-worth, multi-generational families. The firm acts as OCIO and offers customized services, including financial planning, client education, governance, and investment management.
Before launching CWM in 2007, Maria co-founded Circle Financial Group (CFG), a peer-to peer wealth management organization for women investors. Prior to CFG, she retired from Goldman Sachs after a 15-year career in the firm’s Private Wealth Management Division. While there, Maria built one of the top net worth and a premier practice servicing domestic and international families.
At CWM, Maria leads an investment due diligence process that embodies the firm’s culture of intellectual curiosity and healthy debate and benefits from the Investment Committee’s broad access, sourcing, and experiences. She has a keen understanding of market psychology and designs long-term investment portfolios that balance concentration and diversification, allocating to high-conviction ideas while closely monitoring risks and underlying exposures.
A Honduran native and first in her family to attend college, Maria graduated Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, and Beta Gamma Sigma with a B.S. in Business and Economics from Lehigh University and received an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Columbia Business School.
Maria is a strong believer in the power of education. Her philanthropic activities support endowed scholarships and promote financial education and global leadership opportunities for girls and women. She is a member of the Columbia Business School Board and was prior Vice Chair of the Lehigh University Board of Trustees and Investment Committee Chair. She has also served on the Board of Directors of Women Moving Millions, and as Trustee of Kent Place School.
Maria has been named one of the Top 100 Women Financial Advisers by the Financial Times, honored as one of the 40 Women to Watch over 40, and quoted in The Wall Street Journal, and the Journal of Wealth Management, among others. She has also been invited several times to appear on CNBC's The Exchange and Power Lunch.
