Professor Bjorn Jorgensen was recipient of the 2005-2006 Faculty Mentoring Award for the affiliated schools in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, representing the best in PhD sponsorship. The Graduate Student Advisory Council instituted this award in 2004 to commemorate excellence in the mentoring of PhD students. The award is a student initiative; selections were made entirely by graduate student representatives from GSAS and affiliated schools, reviewing over 80 nomination letters spanning across all disciplines. The award provides an honorarium of $500, and a plaque in Prof. Jorgensen’s honor will be placed permanently in the Graduate Student Lounge, 301 Philosophy Hall.
