Professor Stephen Penman, the George O. May Professor of Accounting, is this year’s recipient of the Innovation in Financial Accounting Education Award, awarded by the Financial Reporting Section of the American Accounting Association. The committee chose to recognize Professor Penman with this award for his novel approach to value investing that spans the gamut of professional as well as academic research education. The committee further cited his nearly 100 influential and intellectual contributions to accounting research, notably, the Financial Statement Analysis and Valuation book that was translated into four different languages: Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Portuguese.
