Thomas Monaco

Tom is an experienced career advisor and executive coach who has worked with successful professionals at all stages of their careers. Tom has held a variety of leadership roles within Columbia Business School’s Career Management Center (CMC) for over 15 years. He currently serves as Executive Director of Experienced Professionals Career Management where he manages the delivery of leadership development and career-related services to CBS Alumni and Executive MBA students.
Prior to Columbia Tom worked for over 9 years in finance and accounting at Ernst & Young and Bear Stearns in New York. He joined Columbia in MBA Admissions as Associate Director and member of the Admissions Committee. In his previous roles in Career Management Tom served as Associate Director for Career Services where he managed the first and second year MBA recruiting programs and offered strategic direction to Fortune 500 corporations to help them meet their talent management needs. He oversaw a management communication training program where he counseled hundreds of students on how to succeed at self-assessment, interviewing, negotiation, business communication and career planning.
Tom has worked internationally in microfinance for an international development NGO in Tanzania; he possesses CELTA certification (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) and taught ESL to corporate clients in Prague, Czech Republic.
Tom holds a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from The Ohio State University and a BS in Accounting from Villanova University.
