Carlos Gila is an Adjunct Professor of Management at Columbia Business School.  He also teaches MBA courses on Management and Entrepreneurship at IE Business School in Spain.

He is widely recognized as one of the Spanish leading financial and operational crisis management professionals.  He is a hand-on expert in turnarounds and workouts, with extensive experience in acquisitions and divestures, bankruptcy reorganizations, and the restructuring of troubled businesses.  He has been highlighted on National media as an authority on restructuring, and has been the recipient of the Turnaround Management Association´s “International Turnaround of the Year” Award in 2011.  

Carlos began his professional career as a credit risk analyst and moved to became a strategic management consultant at Andersen Consulting.  After he went to found and lead Gila&Co. to become the ground breaking Turnaround Firm in Spain for more than a decade.  Since 2010, Carlos is Senior Advisor for Oaktree Capital Management and serves as an Advisor or nonexecutive Board Director in various companies, chairing audit and governance committees.

He has decades of experience as a CEO/President, identifying, purchasing, running, reviving and selling companies, the essential steps in a Search Fund.
