Jonathan Weiss
Jon Weiss retired in June, 2025 after 45 years in the banking industry. Most recently, he was the CEO of the Corporate & Investment Bank at Wells Fargo, where he had served on the Company's Operating Committee since 2017.
Jon began his career at Chemical Bank, a predecessor of J.P. Morgan Chase, in 1980. He held various roles there over the course 25 years, including as head of J.P. Morgan Chase's global financial sponsor business and head of investment banking for Chase in Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. Jon's early career included roles in the retail industries, loan syndications and acquisition finance groups, and as assistant representative in Chemical Bank's Mexico City office.
In 2005, Jon joined Wells Fargo through its predecessor, Wachovia Capital Markets. In 2008, he became co-head of Wells Fargo’s Investment Banking & Capital Markets division and in 2014 he was named president of Wells Fargo Securities. In 2017, Jon was asked to lead Wells Fargo’s Wealth & Investment Management business, a position he held until February 2020 when he was named CEO of Corporate & Investment Banking.
Over the course of his career, Jon was involved with leading corporate, private equity and asset management clients around the world on numerous landmark transactions. He managed businesses that collectively accounted for a third of Wells Fargo’s revenues and net income, and led teams of more than 30,000 employees.
Jon earned his B.A. in Romance Languages from Princeton University. He has served on numerous non-profit boards, including as co-chair of Youth, I.N.C., a non-profit based in New York City; as a trustee of the National Humanities Center in Durham, North Carolina; as a member of the board of Pro Mujer, a micro-finance organization serving women in Latin America: and as the president of the board of trustees of the Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
Jon lives in New York City, with his wife of 43 years, a former banker who now teaches high school history. They have two adult children and two young grandchildren.
