Wajeeha Ahmad
Wajeeha Ahmad is an Assistant Professor at Columbia Business School. She is also a Digital Fellow at the Stanford Digital Economy Lab. Her research examines how AI and digital technologies shape businesses and society. Specifically, she studies how firms, platforms, and organizations adopt and govern these technologies to stay competitive while improving societal outcomes. Her work spans two complementary threads: assessing the impact of existing algorithmic and AI systems, and designing and testing new interventions that enhance performance while addressing societal concerns. Her research involves conducting large-scale field and survey experiments, developing AI agents to collect data and study new modes of organization, building interfaces to study human-AI collaboration, and partnering with organizations and entrepreneurs interested in doing the same.
She received her PhD in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University. Prior to her PhD, she completed a Master of Science in Technology and Policy at MIT, where she was a researcher at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory and the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society. She holds an undergraduate degree in Mathematics with Computer Science from MIT, with minors in Economics and Applied International Studies. She has also worked at Microsoft, Google X, Keystone Strategy, the International Criminal Court, and the World Bank.
