Louis Moore Bacon ’81
Louis M. Bacon is founder, chairman, chief executive officer, and principal investment manager of Moore Capital Management, LLC. Moore Capital, founded in 1989, is a private investment management firm that invests in the global financial markets and private equity markets.
Headquartered in New York, with additional offices in Washington, D.C., and London, Moore Capital provides investment management services to its institutional and high net worth clients through several privately offered funds, including two global diversified hedge funds, as well as funds that concentrate in the global fixed income and emerging market sectors.
Mr. Bacon is also the founder and chairman of the Moore Charitable Foundation, Inc. He established the foundation in 1992 to provide financial support to nonprofit organizations that focus primarily on land and water conservation.
Prior to founding Moore Capital in 1989, Mr. Bacon was a senior vice president, futures at Shearson Lehman Brothers Inc. He previously held positions at Walter N. Frank & Co., a NYSE specialist firm, and at Bankers Trust.
A native of North Carolina, Mr. Bacon earned an MBA in finance from Columbia Business School and holds a BA in American literature from Middlebury College in Vermont, for which he serves as a trustee.
