Shar Caesar Douglas is an award-winning marketing executive known for building global digital communities from the ground up. Named to Ad Age’s 40 Under 40 list in 2021, Shar is currently the Global Artist Marketing Lead for TIDAL (NYSE: SQ), a global music and entertainment streaming platform creating a sustainable, artist-first and fan-centric business model for the music industry. Her team cultivates the artist community internationally, building integrated programs and marketing campaigns that empower artists.
Prior to TIDAL, Shar was the VP of Developer and B2B Marketing at Skillz, a global platform that enables competition as monetization for mobile games, and served as YouTube’s London-based Head of Creator Marketing for EMEA. At YouTube, she built the international marketing strategy for the platform’s 30M+ regional content creators, leading with a diverse communities-first approach. She also expedited expansion into emerging markets such as Egypt and Sweden, and engineered an award-winning campaign to maximize engagement from celebrity fandoms with Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated. This effort earned “Most Talked About Documentary” recognition by Nielsen Social, generating more than 20M views.
Throughout her career, Shar has lifted up communities of color, from creators to colleagues. By mining cultural insights to develop targeted campaigns, she brought #YouTubeBlack to the UK (2019) and Sub-Saharan Africa (2020) – ultimately winning the Digital Events Award for 'Best Digital Equality Series.’ In 2020, as the culmination of her purpose-driven focus, Shar orchestrated EMEA’s launch of the $100M #YouTubeBlack Voices Content Fund. Shar’s commitment to empowering others led her to support minority-led startups in industries including healthcare, personal care brands, and sustainable packaging as an active angel investor.
Shar began her career in the credit derivatives technology group at J.P. Morgan in New York City. Shar has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Rice University and an MBA from Columbia University. She currently lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and son.
