Bruce Craven
Bruce Craven is a member of the Columbia Business School Executive Education faculty. He teaches across the portfolio for executive education and serves as Faculty Director for both Open Enrollment and Custom programs. In 2025, he launched the four-day Mastering Executive Communication: Empower Your Leadership Voice (MEC) executive education program in Dubai and New York City. He also serves as Faculty Director for a long-standing leadership partnership with a leading European business school, as well as for programs featuring visiting business leaders from China and the Middle East.
In recent years, Bruce has designed and delivered leadership programs for organizations across various industries, including finance, real estate, luxury goods, technology, and public sector institutions. His teaching focuses on resilience, emotional intelligence, leadership communication, flexible thinking, and the power of story.
In addition to his work in executive education, Bruce is a published novelist, non-fiction writer, poet, and produced screenwriter. His non-fiction book Win or Die: Leadership Secrets from Game of Thrones was republished by Codhill Press in 2023, after its original release by St. Martin’s Press (Macmillan) in 2019. The book has been translated into multiple languages, and Bruce has been featured in television, print, and podcast interviews, contributing articles to CNN and Strategy+ magazine, among others. He has also delivered keynotes at the Harvard Club and other venues.
Bruce is widely recognized as a leading expert on teaching leadership development through fiction, film, and poetry. His novel Sweet Ride, set in New York City in the 1990s, was published by Codhill Press in 2021, and his poetry collection Buena Suerte in Red Glitter was published by Red Dirt Press in 2019. He also co-wrote the Columbia Business School case Handling Change at Ferguson: The Credit Function. His earlier novel Fast Sofa was translated into multiple languages and adapted into a feature film.
Bruce earned his Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from Columbia University’s School of the Arts and holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in Politics (with Honors) and Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
He lives with his wife and son in the Coachella Valley in California.
