Robert Bontempo is Faculty Director of Columbia Business School’s executive programs in persuasion and negotiation. He holds a B.S. from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, where his doctoral research was funded by a grant from the MacArthur Foundation. He has been named by Businessweek as one of the top business school professors in the United States, and his observations on leadership have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and The New York Times. He has advised senior leaders from Fortune 100 companies to the U.S. Department of State and the United Nations. His forthcoming book on the science of persuasion and changing minds will be published by HarperCollins in July 2027.
