Max Wang
Professor Wang studies the strategic management of technology and innovation. His dissertation examines how technology infrastructures such as electronic health records and microgravity laboratories are reshaping the organization of R&D and the trajectory of science. He has also done related work that examines how innovative entrepreneurs calibrate their market strategies based on technology fit. His latest research focuses on the Hawthorne experiments, asking whether scientific management durably improves productivity and whether human relations attenuate the impact of managerial and technological shocks. Professor Wang's work has been published in top science journals such as npj Microgravity and featured by NASA, ESA, the ISS United States National Laboratory, and other outlets.

Assessing the scientific and economic impacts of the experiments conducted onboard the International Space Station
The International Space Station United States National Laboratory has spearheaded space experimentation since 2005. This study assesses the impact of these experiments by linking NASA’s log records to scholarly publications and patent inventions. Several key findings are documented. First, the volume of space experiments has steadily increased, with notable contributions from commercial developers and investigators. Growth accelerated in 2012 following the formation of The Center for the Advancement of Science in Space.
