TETYANA BABINA

Research: Tetyana Babina’s research is at the juncture of corporate finance, labor economics, and entrepreneurship. More broadly, she studies the inter-relationship between human capital and firm investment, financing, and organizational choices. Her current research explores drivers of entrepreneurship and factors predicting entrepreneurial success. Long-term, she seeks to understand how human capital affects the nature of a firm and firm boundaries.

Ph.D.: Babina received her Ph.D. from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina in 2016. On Being at Columbia: “I feel great at CBS! I have awesome research support which includes full-time RAs, ambitious and fun junior colleagues, helpful and nice senior colleagues, and a supportive Dean’s office.”

Fun Fact: Tetyana has gone skydiving and enjoys electronic music and dancing.

OLIVIER DARMOUNI

Ph.D.: Darmouni received his Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University in 2016.

On Being at Columbia: “Coming to Columbia Business School is a great opportunity to be surrounded by so many amazing people, both researchers and practitioners alike. You can feel the pulse of the place!”

Fun Fact: Oliver has an identical twin brother and can make small-talk in Persian.

CHRISTIAN MOSER

Research: Christian Moser is an applied macroeconomist studying the drivers of earnings inequality and the role of redistributive policies. In recent work, he shows that a significant share of the value of higher education degrees comes from greater access to high-paying firms.

Ph.D.: Moser received his Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University in 2016 where he was named a Fellow of Woodrow Wilson Scholars and was awarded the Towbes Prize for Outstanding Teaching.

On Being at Columbia: “As a native of Germany, I am thrilled to be a part of the international community of scholars at Columbia Business School.”
