The Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate is pleased to share that Maureen Devenny ’21, Samantha Sameroff ’21, and Lisa Weingarten ’21 have been awarded a scholarship and mentorship packages by the organization WX, New York Women Executives in Real Estate. As part of their awards, they will be given the opportunity to participate in WX monthly breakfasts, annual dinner, and its prestigious mentoring program. All three women focused their MBA studies on real estate, and also served on the executive board of the school’s Real Estate Association.
WX is an invitation-only association of senior-level women in all aspects of the commercial real estate industry. Its mission is to promote the advancement of women in the commercial real estate industry. Since launching its scholarship program in 2004, WX has awarded over $1.57 million in scholarships to more than 327 women at 17 universities and colleges.
Meet the Recipients
Maureen Devenny ’21
Maureen Devenny is a member of Columbia Business School Class of 2021. She is concentrating in real estate and finance and serves as the Co-VP for Site Tours for the school’s Real Estate Association. Her professional interest is the intersection of real estate and economic development. While at CBS Maureen has held in-semester internships in real estate development (working on vertical industrial and mixed-use residential projects) and strategic investments (at a Community Development Financial Institution). Prior to Columbia, Maureen was the Deputy Director of Operations at Bryant Park Corporation and 34th Street Partnership, two Business Improvement Districts in Midtown Manhattan. She worked closely with developers and government agencies on development and public realm improvement projects within the Penn Station area. Maureen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 where she studied political science and Spanish.
Samantha Sameroff ’21
Samantha Sameroff received her MBA from CBS in ‘21 with a concentration in Real Estate Finance. Upon graduation she is joining Sail Harbor, a real estate investment firm in New York City. Prior to CBS she spent 3 years at CBRE in the Corporate Development Group focused on M&A and corporate strategy. Samantha holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Statistics and a secondary in Computer Science from Harvard College.
Lisa Weingarten ’21
Lisa Weingarten is a member of the Columbia Business School Class of 2021, the elected Cluster Chair for her 70-person MBA class section, and the elected co-President of the CBS 500-member Real Estate Association. After graduation, she will be joining Tishman Speyer in New York as a Senior Associate. This past summer, she interned for Hines on its New York real estate development team. Prior to attending CBS, Lisa worked in real estate development and asset management at Simone Development Companies in New York. She managed ground-up construction and redevelopment projects, negotiated commercial leases across asset classes, and represented the company at political/community functions. Lisa graduated from Cornell University in 2016 with a B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations.
