Bruce Usher, executive in residence and adjunct professor of finance and economics, has been named co-director of Columbia Business School’s Social Enterprise Program. Usher joins Ray Fisman, the Lambert Family Professor of Social Enterprise, as co-director of the program. The Social Enterprise Program plays a significant role at the School in training the next generation of leaders to apply management and business thinking to social enterprise “Bruce exemplifies the School’s mission to bridge academic theory and real-world practice,” said Dean Glenn Hubbard. “He also has been an outstanding teacher of elective courses at the intersection of finance and social enterprise and has provided career advice to MBA students in his capacity as an executive in residence. In his new role with the Social Enterprise Program, Bruce offers highly complementary experience to Ray Fisman’s.” Usher has been teaching at the School since 2001 and was also CEO of EcoSecurities Group through 2009. Prior to his work at EcoSecurities, Bruce served as cofounder and CEO of TreasuryConnect, COO of the Williams Capital Group, and vice president at Lehman Brothers in New York and Tokyo. As co-director, Usher will work with the Social Enterprise Program’s advisory board and the School’s External Relations and Development Office to build connections and support for the program, while also teaming with Fisman and the program’s staff to design and implement program strategy. Fisman will continue to be responsible for curriculum, research, student advising, event programming, and general administrative oversight for the Social Enterprise Program.
