Effective September 1, Professor Mark Broadie will serve as Columbia Business School’s inaugural vice dean for teaching.Broadie is currently the research director for the Program for Financial Studies and the Carson Family Professor of Business in the Decision, Risk, and Operations Division. In his new position, Broadie will focus on strengthening links in content within and across courses, increasing faculty collaboration with regard to teaching, and drawing ideas from faculty research into the classroom. In particular, he will act as a teaching mentor and lead the efforts of the Arthur J. Samberg Institute for Teaching Excellence to support innovative instruction by faculty members.

“We should celebrate the chance to use ideas from our faculty members’ cutting-edge scholarship to invigorate teaching at the School. I believe that seizing these opportunities will enhance Columbia’s standing as a thought leader in business education,” said Dean Glenn Hubbard. “Mark brings a strong record of scholarship, working with colleagues, and teaching excellence to this position.”
