Derek Oliver is a private equity investor pursuing an MBA at Columbia Business School to dive further into the nuances of, and intersection between, investing and entrepreneurship. Currently Derek is serving as Co-President of the Private Equity Club, Derek will be returning to Vista Equity Partners full-time upon graduation. Prior to Columbia, Derek worked at Audax Private Equity and Goldman Sachs.

I worked across both IB and PE pre-MBA; however, came to CBS to transition from a generalist to a sector-specific investor. I leveraged my experiences across both Consumer & Retail IB and Industrials/Commercial Services PE to enter into competitive private equity processes across seniority levels.I have had a robust experience at CBS and have particularly enjoyed building deep connections within the private equity ecosystem here. I look forward to taking my learnings and community with me as I continue to build my career in the space.
