Michael Bates is an aspiring healthcare private equity professional with a strong foundation in both investing and advisory. During his MBA at Columbia Business School, he worked with Lee Equity Partners as part of their Healthcare team and currently works at Overstory Partners, a recently-founded healthcare-focused fund.

Prior to business school, Michael spent over five years advising private equity clients on healthcare and life sciences investments, most recently as a Project Leader in BCG’s Healthcare PE practice, with earlier experience at Bain & Company.

At Columbia Business School, I’ve built on five years of experience advising private equity clients on healthcare and life sciences investments at BCG and Bain. Through the school’s PE program and network, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a live deals with the healthcare team at Lee Equity Partners during my summer internship and am now working at Overstory Partners, a healthcare-focused fund founded by Apax’s former healthcare sector head. These experiences have solidified my commitment to pursuing a post-MBA career in healthcare private equity.
