This Veterans Day, Columbia Business School proudly celebrates the remarkable service members who have strengthened our community for more than a century. Today, nearly 90 students with military experience are pursuing their MBAs at CBS, bringing leadership, discipline, and a deep sense of purpose to every corner of the School.
Among them is Scotty Bartlett ’26, a former U.S. Army Aviation Officer and Blackhawk pilot whose service took him from the skies over Europe and Indonesia to the frontlines of strategic operations. Over his seven years in the Army, Scotty led multinational missions, oversaw more than 200 air missions, and was the lead planner for both the deployment and redeployment of the entire US Army 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade with 120 aircraft and 2,000 Soldiers, all with a perfect safety record.
Now, as a Columbia Business School student, Scotty is charting a new course in finance. A Vice President of Careers for the Veterans Club and a mentor with the Investment Banking Club, he recently completed a summer associate role at Moelis & Company, where he worked on billion-dollar M&A and restructuring deals.
“I’m pursuing my MBA to make a significant career pivot from the military into finance, a transition for which business school is essential,” Scotty shares. “The support from the Veterans Club, Career Management Center, and the CBS community has been instrumental in helping me secure my dream job. It really is a special place.”
Scotty’s story reflects the dedication and excellence of CBS veterans who continue to serve, this time in business, innovation, and leadership across the world.
Through the Yellow Ribbon Program, Columbia Business School partners with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to make an MBA possible for those who have served. As we honor Veterans Day, we invite our CBS community to join us in celebrating the service, accomplishments, and promise of our veterans who continue to make an impact far beyond the classroom.
