By Anna Smukowski '19, EMBA SLEB Chair
I'm excited to serve as the EMBA Chair of the Student Leadership and Ethics Board this coming school year. Through my degree and career, I’m interested in exploring how financial infrastructures can create social change by providing the capital necessary to reduce global, social and environmental inequalities. Outside of the classroom, I develop and structure public-private partnerships for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a national nonprofit financial intermediary. This includes managing the delivery of services for LISC’s Pay for Success initiative, a new financing tool that allows governments and the private sector to partner with and fund nonprofit organizations that have preventive and long-term benefits.
Prior to this role, I worked as LISC’s Credit Officer where I structured and analyzed community development investments across the United States. I began my career at Deloitte Consulting with a focus in finance, pharmaceuticals and sustainability. I hold a B.S. in Finance and Economics from NYU and was a scholar in the NYU Reynolds Program in Social Entrepreneurship.
As EMBA Chair, I’m looking forward to increasing the involvement of the EMBA community in discussions around values-based leadership and ethics along with my fellow board members: Anna Boatwright, Emmett Lamb, Mars Shah and Praveen Aanur. This includes more robust engagement around planning and executing speaker series as well as working with faculty to increase Individual, Business and Society based curriculum in the EMBA core. We look forward to another great school year!
