Daniel J. Merlau is a Staff Associate in the Marketing Division at Columbia Business School. His research interests center on marketing strategy, with a focus on customer lifetime value, healthcare decision-making, and managerial applications of emerging technologies. His work has been published in Marketing Science and Retina, and he has co-authored cases and teaching materials for the school's MBA, Executive Education, and MS programs on machine learning in the recycling industry and marketplace dynamics in dating apps.

Daniel brings a uniquely interdisciplinary background spanning behavioral marketing, renewable energy investment, and health tech innovation. He has held leadership roles in both corporate and entrepreneurial settings, including founding a medical software company and launching large-scale agricultural operations. His diverse experience is grounded in a passion for solving complex strategic problems across sectors.

Daniel earned his BA in Economics with a Pre-Medical Focus and his MBA from Columbia University.
