The "Valuing Research" series includes summaries of recent academic papers with both theoretical and practical implications for the greater value investing community. These summaries are prepared by Ye Li, a current Ph.D. student at Columbia Business School, under the supervison of Professor Tano Santos. Professor Tano Santos is the research director of the Heilbrunn Center for Graham and Dodd Investing.
The closing panel for all Symposium attendees centered on how some of the largest and most active institutional real estate investors think about allocating capital. Serving as moderator, Professor Sagalyn continually asked about approaches to real estate investing and what criteria shaped decision-making. Speaking to these issues were three panelists whose companies collectively manage tens of billions of dollars in real estate.
Bringing warm weather and high spirits with them, the Columbia Business School (“CBS”) Real Estate Association (“REA”) traveled to Chicago from November 1st to 3rd to learn about the current investment landscape in the country’s 3rd largest city. They were joined by representatives from the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate for a two-and-a-half day trek around The Loop and River North.
Team “Clairvoyance Capital,” consisting of three first-year and three second-year students, finished first in the prestigious National Real Estate Challenge held on November 28-29.
