Professors Ray Fisman and Bruce Usher,Co-Directors of the Social Enterprise Program (SEP),shed light on some of the challenges social entrepreneurs may face in making organizational decisions.

Margaret Cannella ‘76, an Adjunct Professor at Columbia Business School, has joined the Private Equity Program as Administrative Director. Cannella will join Private Equity Program Director, Donna M. Hitscherich, Senior Lecturer in Discipline, Finance and Economics.

Professor Takatoshi Ito was recently featured on a Bloomberg article titled, "Kuroda's Former Deputy Ito Says Japan Can Endure Stronger Yen". He commented that trading the Japanese yen at 120-125 per dollar would be a "comfortable range" for Japan and would not be problematic unless the yen becomes 110 per dollar. Adjunct Professor Tommy Craig '82 received widespread attention this week for leading Dallas-based firm Hines to sustained success in the New York market. Craig's work as senior vice president and partner in Hines's regional office in Manhattan is featured as the lead story in the July 23 Crain's "Real Estate Report." The piece commends the firm's development and management work in New York over the past 24 years, from the Lipstick Building in 1986 to the One Bryant Park building currently under way.

In the role, Cannella will oversee the launch of the Private Equity Fellows Program, designed for select students seeking to deepen their knowledge of the industry.

Professor Lynne B. Sagalyn presented the paper “Entertainment Centers and the Quest for Transformation in the Periphery” with Amanda Johnson at the University of Amsterdam’s master class workshop, “Explaining Metropolitan Transformation: Politics, Functions, and Symbols,” January 24-25 in the Netherlands.
