Columbia Business School’s Professor Daniel Keum was quoted in Reuters in a piece examining how companies across global markets are evaluating the returns on their AI investments. Keum noted that while firms are rapidly adopting AI tools to improve efficiency and reduce costs, many are struggling to translate these investments into measurable value. He emphasized that the benefits of AI depend heavily on complementary organizational changes—such as redesigning workflows, retraining employees, and integrating data systems—which companies often underestimate. Without these adjustments, he cautioned, AI risk becoming an expensive but underutilized asset.
