On Friday, April 7th, the Real Estate Association (REA) had the privilege of visiting The Howard Hughes Corporation (HHC) offices and their project at Pier 17 of the South Street Seaport District.

 

The 2017 Real Estate Alumni Reception was held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Princeton Club of New York, and honored Paul Pariser ’78, Founder and Co-CEO of Taconic Investment Partners as a Distinguished Real Estate Partner. This annual reception is hosted by the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate and Real Estate Circle and sponsored by Goodwin. 

On March 13th 2017, 36 real estate students traveled to Johannesburg and Cape Town, touring established private and public real estate investment firms, banking institutions, local entrepreneurs and non-profits investigating the state of the real estate market in South Africa. 

On April 5, 2017, the Real Estate Association and the Family Business Club, with support from the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate, presented a joint Real Estate Family Business Panel at Columbia Business School.

On March 28th, 2017, the Real Estate Association (REA), with support from the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate, presented Columbia Business School’s third annual Real Estate Technology and Entrepreneurship Panel. The event began with a networking reception for current students, alumni and industry participants to mix and mingle.

On Friday March 3, 2017, Columbia Business School’s Real Estate Association, in partnership with the Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate, hosted the 8th annual Real Estate Career Forum at the Columbia Club of New York.  The Career Forum had representation from over 25 prestigious companies from varying parts of the Real Estate industry. ​

Columbia Business School’s case competition team topped 14 other business schools to finish first place in the 2017 Real Estate Development Challenge hosted by UNC on February 17. The team, Strokos Capital, consisting of Durrell Mack '17, Will Noyes '17, John Pollock ’17 and Emily Steinberg '18, impressed the judges by presenting a plan to redevelop a 145-acre retired U.S. army base outside of downtown Atlanta. 

Andrea Olshan '04 serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Olshan Properties. In a recent interview with Morgan Mann '17, Ms. Olshan discussed market trends and areas of disruption, joining the family business, strategies for the future, and gave advice for current Columbia Business School students aspiring to have careers in real estate.
