On Friday, February 27, the Real Estate Association spent the afternoon with the Related Companies, listening to insights from executives and touring existing properties and developments. The group of over 20 MBA students first toured the Shops at Columbus Circle at Time Warner Center, where the leasing manager, Lauren Hammer, gave an overview of the tenant mix and shared some interesting facts about the property.  

For the fourth year in a row, Columbia Business School placed in the top three at the invitation-only UNC Real Estate Development Challenge. Dennis Giuliano '15, Andrew Kim '16, Ashley McDonald '15, and Rob Nitkin '15 of team "Equity Multipliers" finished third at the competition held on February 20-21 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

On February 6, 2015, the Columbia Business School Real Estate Association, Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate and Career Management Center hosted their hallmark Real Estate Career Forum to much success.

The 7th annual Real Estate Symposium, an exclusive alumni-only event, took place on Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Columbia University Club of New York. Mortimer B. Zuckerman, Executive Chairman, Boston Properties, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of U.S. News & World Report, Chairman and Publisher of the New York Daily News, delivered the keynote address.

Sagalyn for a fireside chat at the 7th Annual Columbia Business School Real Estate Symposium on Monday, December 15, 2014.

This intergenerational panel, the closing session of the day, brought together prominent industry figures to discuss trends, expectations, and concerns related to real estate development.

The panel discussion, "Where are we in the Real Estate Cycle," moderated by Michael Giliberto of Columbia Business School, and including A.J. Agarwal of Blackstone, Adam Schwartz of Angelo, Gordon, and Joshua Scoville of Hines, focused on where to find investment opportunities in the current market environment.

Steven Spinola, of the Real Estate Board of New York, led the panel “New York: At the Very Center of Business” by framing the discussion around key market drivers: population, job growth and transportation.

The Real Estate Capital Markets panel discussed current capital market and investor trends in light of recent economic developments. The panelists provided valuable insights from their diverse perspectives, from public to private capital markets and across product types.

On December 10, 2014, Christopher Mayer, Co-Director of the Richard Paul Richman Center of Business, Law, and Public Policy & Paul Milstein Professor of Real Estate, Columbia Business School moderated a panel titled "The Implication of Secular Change" at the Barclays Select Series 2014 – Real Estate: The Year Ahead.
