Columbia Business School Hosts the 2000 Graham and Dodd Seminar

This year’s Graham and Dodd Seminar, Value Investing 2000, was the tenth in a series held to recognize the tradition of Benjamin Graham and David Dodd at Columbia Business School. The program featured Christopher H. Browne, managing director of Tweedy, Browne Company, who discussed value investing, behavioral psychology and financial decision-making. Bruce C. N. Greenwald, the Heilbrunn Professor of Finance and Asset Management, moderated the discussion.

Columbia Business School hosted its fifth Pan-European Reunion on the weekend of September 22–24, 2000, in Monte Carlo. More than 400 Columbia Business School alumni and guests gathered for the reunion festivities, including a symposium on business and technology featuring Professor Manfred Lahnstein, special representative of the board of Bertelsmann AG, and Mario Monti, the European commissioner of competition, and a black-tie gala at the Monte Carlo Beach Club. Columbia Business School hosted His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan as a distinguished speaker in the School’s continuing Millennium Lecture Series. His Majesty spoke to a packed auditorium of alumni, faculty members and students about leading a developing country to economic stability. During his talk, he emphasized the importance of education and technology in providing new opportunities for Jordanians. Dean Feldberg presented His Majesty with the Millennium Award for Distinguished Leadership in recognition of his impact as a global leader. The Millennium Lecture Series brings world leaders to campus to discuss leadership and economic development issues.
