Join us for a virtual fireside chat on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 12:45 PM ET with Halle Tecco, MBA, MPH, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Business at Columbia Business School, to discuss her new book Massively Better Healthcare: The Innovator’s Guide to Tackling Healthcare’s Biggest Challenges (Columbia University Press). Drawing on her experience as the founder of Rock Health, an investor in more than 50 digital health companies, and a decade of teaching digital health investing at Columbia Business School, Professor Tecco offers a practical roadmap for healthcare innovation. Why is healthcare so hard, and how can leaders use that complexity to their advantage? Who really holds power in healthcare, and how can innovators bend the system without being broken by it? Professor Tecco will share lessons, case studies, and frameworks for earning trust, balancing purpose and profit, and creating lasting change.
This event will be moderated by Carri Chan, PhD, Cain Brothers and Company Professor of Healthcare Management, and Faculty Director of the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management Program at Columbia Business School.

Herzfeld co-invested in Carevive’s three strategic and institutional capital raises prior to its sale to Health Catalyst, Inc (Nasdaq:HCAT) in May 2024.Madelyn Trupkin Herzfeld was Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Vice Chairman of Carevive Systems, Inc. Carevive was the first provider of a fully-integrated software solution for health systems to efficiently and cost-effectively meet nationally established quality care mandates and value-based programs in cancer care. Herzfeld co-invested in Carevive’s three strategic and institutional capital raises prior to its sale to Health Catalyst, Inc (Nasdaq:HCAT) in May 2024. Prior to starting Carevive, she was Founder, President, and General Manager of the Institute for Medical Education & Research, Inc. (IMER), where she led the development of accredited oncology continuing education/continuing medical education programs for nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals specializing in oncology for 12 years. IMER was sold in 2007 to United Biosource Corporation, which was acquired by Medco Health Solutions (2010) and later Express Scripts Corporation (2011). She began her career at Bear, Stearns & Co. as a financial analyst in its investment banking healthcare services/pharmaceutical group and subsequently served as an associate for Pinnacle Partners, a boutique investment bank focused on middle-market healthcare service companies. Ms. Herzfeld earned dual degrees in business (concentration: Health Care Public Policy and Management) and nursing from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and School of Nursing, respectively.
