Joost van Dreunen
Joost van Dreunen is a leading industry expert on the business of video games. Combining over two decades of experience analyzing the video game industry and an in-depth understanding of cultural and technological trends, Joost provides accessible, data-driven insights into the growth and evolution of interactive media.
A serial entrepreneur, Joost is the co-founder and CEO of ALDORA, a data provider centered on interactive entertainment. His previous firm, SuperData Research, was acquired by Nielsen (NYSE: NLSN) in 2018. Joost also serves as an investor and advisor to a portfolio of gaming startups.
At New York University's Stern School of Business, Joost teaches on strategy and economics in the video games industry, and is the author of the acclaimed book One Up: Creativity, Competition, and the Global Business of Video Games (Columbia University Press), which examines the underlying forces that shape interactive entertainment. He is also a regular contributor on gaming in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, the NY Times, and Bloomberg Business. Joost publishes a popular weekly newsletter, the SuperJoost Playlist, that provides insights on gaming, tech, and entertainment to over 15,000 subscribers.
Joost holds an MA from the University of Amsterdam and a PhD from Columbia University.
