CITI-IMMAA Seminar: Ivana Kostovska, Free University of Brussels (VUB)
This event was organized by Zvezdan Vukanovic from the University of Donja Gorica in Montenegro. The seminar focused on investment obligations of video-on-demand providers in several countries. Australia proposed a two-tier system of investment obligations that would require large SVOD providers to meet a minimum level of Australian content expenditures. In Canada, there have been calls for investment obligations. In Europe, 13 countries require transnational VOD providers to invest in local content. There are also restrictive levies on market participants.
The seminar examined nations where investment obligations exist and analyzed their effect on production and investments.
