The Graduation To Do List is comprised of a number of steps, most of which are related to activities leading up to Recognition and Commencement, as well as preparing for life as Columbia Business School Alumni. For students who have borrowed loans at any time during their MBA Program, there is one important final step to be completed prior to Graduation. This step is mandatory for all federal or institutional loan borrowers. Private loans do not typically require an exit counseling be completed; however, please review our Student Loan Payment Checklist for some important steps that should be reviewed by private loan borrowers.
Please follow the instructions below for completing the Financial Aid Exit Counseling. This information will also be posted on your Graduation To Do List.
Financial Aid Exit Counseling
If you are a student loan borrower, there is a required step with regard to your loans before you can graduate. Please complete a Federal Exit Interview if you borrowed a Direct Loan or Direct Graduate PLUS loan at www.studentloans.gov, which informs you of your rights and responsibilities as a borrower. If you borrowed a Federal Perkins loan or a Columbia Institutional Loan, a separate exit interview is required. Please visit SSOL to complete this step (Federal Perkins and Columbia Institutional Loans Entrance/Exit Interview). Failure to complete the federally mandated Exit Interviews will result in the withholding of your diploma.
In addition, please check your Current Account Balance on SSOL to ensure that you have paid all tuition balances. Visit the Account section of SSOL and click on View Student Account Detail for the most up-to-date amount due (as of yesterday). Please contact us with any questions or concerns at [email protected].
