The Chazen Institute of Global Business was founded in 1991 with a $10 million gift from Jerome A. Chazen, MBA ’50.
When he founded the institute, Chazen headed Liz Claiborne, Inc., described by Fortune as one of the 10 best-managed corporations in the world, with record sales and earnings in a difficult, competitive environment.
Chazen attributed a large part of the company’s success to its willingness to do business overseas. It is his hope that this same global perspective will help prepare Columbia Business School students for similar achievements. To help achieve that goal, Mr. Chazen generously donated an additional $10 million in 2016.
