Industry Expert Mentor Program
The Industry Expert Mentor program was established to pair practitioners with students for work on large scale projects in certain courses. Industry practitioners have expertise in relevant subject matter, providing students with real world mentors as they complete project work. For 2022-23, the mentors are supporting the Digital marketing course.
Current Industry Expert Mentors:
Mousumi (Sumi) Duttaray, Ph.D.
Sumi is Co-Founder and Principal at mdrk Consulting, a boutique analytics consulting. Previously, she has worked at multiple firms including American Express, Barclaycard and Wolters Kluwer. She brings 15+ years of experience in market research, advertising and marketing analytics, customer segmentation, online behavioral targeting models, spend and response modeling, test and strategic campaign designs, competitive research and training, and cross-functional business development. During her tenure in the financial and credit industries she managed client, agency, and B2B relationships driving significant business growth in banking and credit. Later within advertising and data analytics industries for telecommunications, retail, travel, and legal services, she spearheaded insights and analytics product development including customer, market and big data insights engines and dashboards.
Sumi holds a Ph.D. in Econometrics from Indiana University and was a professor of Economics at Union College, and a research scientist at the University of Notre Dame. Her work has appeared in academic journals and presented at multiple academic and industry conferences.
Christine Alemany
Christine Alemany is the CEO of TBGA, which is a branding and marketing firm which has been featured in Harvard Business Review, Forbes, Business Insider, AdWeek, and FastCompany. Christine is an engineer by training and a marketer at heart who balances both art and science to deliver results. She is adept at reinvigorating brands and helping companies to grow and scale. She has previously worked at B2B and B2C companies such as Dell and Citi, and has advised clients across industries such as Edtech, FinTech, Legaltech and eCommerce.
Allen Bonde
Allen is the CMO at Synthesio, an Ipsos company. A leader in AI-enabled consumer intelligence, Synthesio works with global companies and brands to explore their market and spot unmet consumer needs. Previously, Allen was VP and research director at Forrester, CMO at several start-ups, and co-founder of social marketing pioneer Offerpop (now Wyng, noteworthy for the first Super Bowl hashtag campaign.) Allen has broad experience in market strategy, brand building, and demand generation, and was an early adopter of Agile and OKRs in marketing. He was also a McKinsey consultant focused on digital transformation, and started his career as a data scientist in the telecom sector, where he received a patent and did early work in machine learning.
Allen holds a MS from the University of Virginia, and a BS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has given keynote talks on 4 continents, has appeared on MSNBC, CNBC, and FOX TV, and has been quoted or featured in 150 publications around the globe.
Clark Boyd
Clark Boyd is a digital strategy consultant and author. Boyd has held senior leadership positions in marketing agencies in London and New York, where he devised and implemented global digital marketing strategies for clients including American Express, General Motors, and adidas.
He has been featured as a technology expert in the BBC, San Francisco Chronicle, and Vice, and he regularly delivers keynote speeches on data science and marketing. Boyd earned his BA and MA degrees from the University of Cambridge.
Obioma Enyia
Oby Enyia is Director of Brand Marketing at Samsung Electronics America and is a first generation Nigerian American from Michigan. She spent her first years in the industry in media planning and strategy across major brand accounts like Yum Global, Unilever, Myspace, NBC and PepsiCo before moving over to lead consumer engagement for Samsung Mobile.
Oby has led several marketing campaigns and partnerships focused on driving consumer engagement and ROI including launching the first ever brand owned influencer network, Mountain Dew Green Label, the e-sports amateur gaming league MDL and managing the NBA’s partnership with the brand.
In her current role she heads up global consumer marketing for Samsung's wearables and audio division and is charged with leading go to market communications and brand strategy for Samsung in the United States.
Oby is passionate about the advancement of women and people of color in marketing and how we show up behind the scenes and in market for our consumers. It is important to focus on not only career advancement but also the role of marketing strategies and brand equity when it comes to share of voice and influence with these audiences.
Ryan Green
Ryan Green is VP of Marketing and Innovation at Coegi Partners. Ryan brings over 15 years of experience in marketing and analytics. In 2014, Ryan became the first employee of Coegi, launching the day-to-day operations of the company. He later assumed the role of Operations Director, overseeing the implementation of Coegi’s tech stack on The Trade Desk, DV360, White Ops, 4C, and Adobe. He also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Missouri's School of Journalism, teaching the School's first class on programmatic media buying. As the Vice President of Marketing and Innovation, Ryan spearheads thought leadership, innovation in technology, and advanced measurement. His client experience includes Moderna, Bodyarmor Sports Drinks, Lenovo, Bayer, HCA, Caterpillar Bread and Butter Wines and Mint Mobile.
Dimo Kostopoulos
Dimo is Senior Vice President at Blend360. Dimo has 25+ years of experience in data science and analytics. He partners with consumer product, retail, health tech and financial clients to monetize their data assets to drive growth and margin through analytic solutions. He has track record in building strong, agile internal teams and launching global measurement capabilities that maximize the impact of data science on business results, operational efficiency, and marketing effectiveness. His previous experience includes companies such as Amazon, Ogilvy/WPP, Harte Hanks, Agency.com/Omnicom and McGraw-Hill.
Gary Stein
Gary Stein is an advertising industry veteran, having logged more than two decades in agency strategy, media and leadership roles. He is currently the Chief integration officer at Duncan Channon, an independent agency with a deep client roster. Gary has been a guest lecturer at Stanford Business School, UC Berkeley/Haas Business School and recently joined the University of San Francisco as an adjunct professor, teaching Data, Storytelling and Persuasion. Gary’s clients have included P&G, Nike, Lands’ End, Diageo, Beam Global, Mandarin Oriental Hotels, Oakley, Virgin America, Google Cloud, a whole bunch of start ups that either didn’t quite make it or got bought up by someone or other.
