As you know, just because you've had a chance to put your degree to use in the field doesn't mean you're done learning. There's always more you can do to develop your skills, improve your on-the-job performance, or take the next step in your career. Luckily, as a Columbia Business School alumnus, you have unique access to further education and we are committed to our lifelong learning programs.
Alumni Auditing
All degreed alumni of Columbia Business School have lifetime access to the alumni auditing program, subject to the guidelines outlined below.
- Auditing is available in person only.
- There must be space in the course after currently enrolled students have been accommodated.
- Faculty determine whether their courses are open to alumni auditors.
- Alumni auditors must be able to commit to attending the course regularly, since auditing is intended to be a meaningful classroom experience.
Course availability varies each term and participation in a particular course cannot be guaranteed. Each term, participating courses with available capacity are identified for alumni auditing. Alumni should follow the published alumni auditing process rather than contacting faculty directly.
Important Notes: Auditing does not grant any credits or certifications. Alumni may audit up to two courses per semester free of charge. Please note that a decision around whether auditing will be offered will only occur after the add/drop period for currently enrolled degree students. Final approval will depend on space availability in the course. If approved, our office will share details regarding the approval, ways to access course materials, and instructions on how to access the building.

If the semester is not yet listed, course details have not been finalized—please check back 1-2 months before the semester begins.

We know that lifelong learning does not always fit neatly into a semester-long commitment. Faculty Live was created in partnership with Columbia Business School faculty to bring the classroom to alumni wherever they are.
Offered throughout the year, these one-hour virtual sessions give alumni an opportunity to hear directly from CBS faculty about what they are teaching, researching, and thinking about today. Faculty Lives explores timely ideas shaping business and the world, offering a meaningful way to reconnect with the intellectual life of the School without the time commitment of auditing a full course.
