About the Deming Center
The mission of the Deming Center is to leverage Columbia Business School’s world-class research and teaching to bridge theory and practice in operational innovation and operational excellence—advancing thought leadership at the intersection of academia and industry, fostering dynamic knowledge exchange, and promoting impactful applied research to create lasting value for businesses and society. The Center also creates unique opportunities for students to engage with industry leaders, explore curriculum pathways, and pursue recruiting opportunities in operations across a variety of sectors. Building on Professor Deming’s legacy and foundational areas in operations, the Center focuses on two key themes: first, the impact of artificial intelligence and technology more broadly on processes, workflows, and the delivery of goods and services; and second, the management of supply chains and manufacturing amid evolving global conditions and increasing sustainability demands.
