Comprised of a highly selective group of first- and second-year students, the purpose of the Bernstein Center's Student Leadership and Ethics Board (SLEB) is to foster a culture and safeguard a tradition of principled leadership throughout the Columbia Business School community.
SLEB works closely with the faculty and staff of the Bernstein Center to integrate ethical leadership into the school’s ethos through program development, curriculum support, and campus community enrichment. Members of the Board shape conversations around values-based leadership conflicts, organize panels with industry leaders, and support curriculum initiatives that encourage ethical understanding and constructive dialogue.
Paul M. Montrone Seminar Series on Ethics
- Complementing the Individual, Business, and Society Curriculum (IBSC), SLEB members host an intimate series of round tables that focus on real-world ethical issues and the consequences of decisions. This setting allows attendees to network directly with faculty, business leaders and CBS peers.
Leadership and Ethics Week
- Annually in the spring, SLEB hosts a series of interactive events that brings together distinguished speakers, academics and students to discuss an array of relevant leadership and ethics topics across industries.
- Visit our Leadership and Ethics Week page for more information.
CBS-West Point Exchange
- In partnership with the Military Academy at West Point, SLEB members engage with cadets through mock classes, case studies, and round-table discussions that encourage an exchange of strategy and leadership lessons from their respective fields.
The Botwinick Prize in Business Ethics
- SLEB members are an important part of the nomination and selection process for the annual Botwinick Prize in Business Ethics. The awardee is a leader who exemplifies the highest standard of professional and ethical conduct, and Board members are invited as VIP guests to attend the ceremony and meet the honoree.
- Visit our The Botwinick Prize in Business Ethics page for more information.
