The academic representative is considered a senior member of the cluster leadership and is responsible for:
- Contributing to CBS Academic Committee initiatives
- Serving as the feedback liaison between faculty and the cluster
- Supporting the academic success of the cluster, particularly in the Core
- Coordinating informal interactions between students and faculty
The specific activities associated with these tasks include:
- Lead or serve as a team member for an Academic Committee initiative
- Attend Academic Committee and Core Faculty meetings
- Conduct frequent meetings with faculty members to proactively discuss matters such as participation levels, Canvas administration, class pacing, etc.
- Share some form of weekly communication to the cluster, typically with a summary of:
- Assignments due (including assignment type)
- Exam dates
- Any changes to the class schedule
- Core Culture reminders
- Links to resources such as Starfish (for tutoring)
- Upcoming Mock Lectures
- Coordinate breakfast/lunch/coffee with faculty (typically 6-8 students)
- Attend 1-2 Mock Lectures per term
- Distribute calendar notices with the exam dates and locations
- Monitor adherence to Core Culture in coordination with Cluster Chair
- Distribute mid-term survey about Core Culture to check classroom sentiment
