Peter Bennett ’67 is chairman of Liberty Partners, a private equity firm he founded in 1992 to invest in small to medium sized companies. Prior to his 26 year tenure with Liberty Partners, he spent 21 years with Merrill Lynch in several capacities including managing director of Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, senior vice president of Merrill Lynch lnterfunding, and manager of private financing for Merrill Lynch's investment banking division.
Peter received a B.S. degree in management from Lehigh University and upon graduation spent two years as a lieutenant in the US Army Signal Corps, including a one year tour in Vietnam. Upon completion of his military service he received an MBA from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business.
Peter has served on the boards of directors of over 40 companies during his business career. He is a trustee emeritus of Lehigh University and a member of the Dean's Advisory Council of Lehigh's College of Education. He is treasurer and director of Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Kempton, PA.
Peter lives with his wife, Jean Nevins, in Manhattan and they spend weekends at their farm in Bucks County, PA or their home in Montauk. Both Peter and Jean have two daughters and Peter has four grandchildren.
