The Tamer Center for Social Enterprise works with student clubs to organize seminars and panels and to meet with students to provide information on social enterprise careers. The program also facilitates networking opportunities such as the annual Tamer Center Reception for students and alumni, which typically takes place at the beginning of the spring term, and helps connect MBA students to alumni networks, professionals, and other resources.
Student Clubs organize many career events each year related to social and environmental impact, including annual conferences, and alumni and practitioner panels. Student clubs also organize group discussions and networking opportunities including office visits and Treks to other cities which focus on particular career themes, such as the International Development Trek to DC each fall.
The Career Management Center (CMC) posts job announcements for current students and alumni through the Career Online Information Network (COIN). The Career Services staff frequently forwards job and internship postings, pro bono consulting opportunities, new social and environmental job resources, and notices about relevant career presentations to student listservs. Recruiters can also submit job postings online.
The Tamer Center, working closely with the CMC, educates and supports students in career transitions and job searches, whether they are on campus or student-driven enterprise searches. The center also works to source and publicize both summer internship and full-time opportunities in partnership with the following student clubs: Social Enterprise, Green Business, and Microlumbia. Depending on a student’s particular areas of interest, they are directed to resources most relevant for the function and industry they are pursuing. General workshops on how to best explore and understand the social and environmental impact landscape and how to network effectively help students round out their career search skills.
