Lucas is a master of public administration student at the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). Prior to SIPA, Lucas was a program manager at The Resolution Project, a social enterprise and nonprofit incubator with ventures in 80 countries, and a 2015–2016 Fulbright Scholar in rural Vietnam. Both experiences shaped his current professional focus of understanding how economic development initiatives can be informed by sustainable practices, human- and environment-centered design and public-private partnerships. As a 2019 Sustainable Investing Fellow on Morgan Stanley’s global sustainable finance team, he witnessed how purpose-driven financing can help tackle some of the most critical issues facing both people and planet. Throughout the summer, his primary project was to develop methodologies and prototype dashboards for measuring security- and portfolio-level alignment with key ESG themes, including gender equity, climate solutions, environmental practices, and the UN's sustainable development goals. He also undertook a number of other projects, including analysis of ESG in sovereign bonds, research on responsible banking procedures, and strategies for tracking affordable housing investments made by the community development finance team.
