Giz is an MBA student at Columbia Business School. As a Sustainable Investing Fellow, Giz worked in the Global Sustainability Office over the summer, coordinating with various teams from products and solutions to climate to complete six different projects. Her efforts included understanding existing regulatory space for climate scenario analysis, identifying inclusive finance offerings across financial institutions, analyzing biodiversity and nature-related disclosures, competitive benchmarking for sustainability related communications for financial institutions and understanding developments for transition plan requirements and just transition.
Prior to CBS, Giz was a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, focusing on sustainability, financial institutions and consumer sectors across Turkey, Europe, UK, and the US. Her work ranged from helping clients set carbon strategy in line with their sustainability ambitions and investigating potential green business building opportunities, such as plastics recycling and carbon markets. She was also the co-president of Green Team at her local office, an initiative to raise awareness about sustainability among colleagues and lower carbon footprint within the office.
Giz holds a BA in economics with a minor in business in German from Northwestern University. During her time there, she interned at various financial institutions including a search fund/private equity and debt capital markets division of an investment bank to build her finance acumen.
