Pieter Bosmans is pursuing an MPA with a focus on energy and environment at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. During his tenure as a Sustainable Investing Fellow with Morgan Stanley's Global Capital Markets division, Pieter offered guidance to clients across diverse industries and transaction types, addressing ESG considerations. Notably, he advised an industrials company post-IPO, leveraging peer benchmarking and best practice assessment, and assessed the potential impacts of an upcoming M&A transaction on ESG ratings and WACC for a materials company.
Beyond client advisory, Pieter codified knowledge and developed tools, including a framework quantifying ESG fund ownership, which he connected with academic research on the economic implications of ESG factors. Moreover, he researched the market of sustainability-linked bonds.
Before joining Columbia, Pieter gained four years of experience as a senior consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he provided strategic guidance to diverse clients with a focus on public sector and sustainability. He was based in Belgium and Canada, and served clients across Europe, North America, and Japan.
Pieter is a Belgian American Education Fellow, a Fondation Fernand Lazard Fellow, SIPA Fellow, and teaching assistant at Columbia University. He earned his CEMS master’s in international management and MSc in corporate finance from the Louvain School of Management, the London School of Economics, and ESADE Business School.
