What is the social or environmental issue being addressed?
Rising electricity costs hit hardest in multifamily neighborhoods, where seventy percent of New York City is classified as energy vulnerable. Renters without rooftops or garages have been locked out of solar, batteries, and EVs — the tools homeowners use to flex their energy use. Residential HVAC drives twenty percent of Con Edison’s peak load, forcing dirty peaker plants to fire up in environmental justice neighborhoods.
Innovation:
Every Electric deploys plug-in powerbanks behind New Yorkers' HVAC units and orchestrates them as a virtual power plant for Con Edison. Off-the-shelf hardware, plus our software, means zero installation and no interconnection paperwork —unlocking grid flexibility for renters and expanding electrical capacity in buildings to enable further electrification. Participants earn a free month of electricity while reducing strain on the grid and emissions from peaker plants.
