What is the social or environmental issue being addressed?
The broken relationship between low-income communities and law enforcement requires leadership, a change in mindset, and diversity. Through reformed recruitment and revised training, New Blue identifies, trains, and develops a diverse coalition of leaders who shape police policy and culture through system-level leadership.
Innovation:
There is not an organization that strings diversity recruitment, revised training, and leadership development all together in a cohort model. New Blue Project is the organization to lead the way with a three-pronged approach:
- Identify and train diverse leaders who represent the communities they serve.
- Advance leadership and guide socialization by placing our recruits in agencies that value community-oriented policing practices.
- Support career trajectories and leadership with New Blue Project ambassadors and stewards this mission.
