Plentify
Founder:
Jon Kornik ’11BUS
Industry:
Solar and energy efficiency
Venture Type:
For-profit
What is the social or environmental issue being addressed?
Utility infrastructure in African cities is expensive, unreliable, and environmentally unsustainable. This is also set to worsen as rapid urbanization fueled by climate change places increasing strain on these already fragile systems.
Innovation:
Plentify’s first product is a smart solar water heating service. They pay to upgrade failed electric water heaters to smart solar water heaters, sell hot water for less than the avoided electricity, and use technology to intelligently optimize each device and increase savings over time.
